Contribution to hospitalityThe rare maison that began in the treatment room and only later became a product

1 · Opening

Jacques Courtin-Clarins LHL-P-761 opened a treatment institute in Paris in 1954 and developed products because his clients asked for them. Almost every other maison in this section went the other way.

2 · Why it matters

The origin matters commercially and philosophically. A house built from the table outward has protocols that predate its packaging; the hotel spas it operates are a return to the original business rather than a brand extension.

myBlend, the group's upper line, added a technological layer — personalised diagnostics and device-assisted treatment — and its installation at Le Royal Monceau (LHL-H-214) is among the clearest examples of the maison spa competing on results rather than on name.

The house also holds an unusual position at Velaa Private Island (LHL-I-041), where a treatment brand becomes part of the identity of a private-island resort.

3 · Signature & ritual

Manual technique as doctrine — the house has always insisted the hands are the product; myBlend adds diagnostics and devices for guests who want measurement.

4 · What this house does not solve

A family-held maison competing against LVMH-scale siblings has less to spend on the hotels' attention, and hotel spa contracts are won partly on marketing support.

Two propositions — manual tradition and technological personalisation — must be explained separately to every guest, which is one explanation too many for a spa menu.

And the treatment-first origin, its greatest distinction, is invisible: guests know the products and assume the spas came after.

7 · LHL story

“Backwards Into Beauty” — Nearly every cosmetics maison in this section arrived in the treatment room from a laboratory. One arrived from the opposite direction: it was a treatment room first, and made products because clients asked.
